Brighten Your Smile
Due to a number of different reasons our teeth tend to become darker in colour as we age. Teeth whitening from our Victoria dentists can be a quick, and easy way to restore the natural brightness to your smile!
The Teeth Whitening Process
During your first whitening appointment at InHarmony Dental Care, we will make impressions of your teeth to fabricate whitening trays to fit your unique smile.
At your second appointment, you will receive your trays, your teeth bleaching solution, and detailed instructions on how to apply the gel and for how long to apply to gel.
Your trays will be custom made to fit your mouth. You will likely find them to be surprisingly lightweight and comfortable. Your trays can be worn while you are awake or overnight as you sleep. They are thin enough that you'll be able to talk and work comfortably while wearing it.
Most bleaching systems require 10-14 days to achieve the desired result. When deciding how white your teeth should be try to match the colour of your teeth to the whites of your eyes. Any whiter than that, and your teeth may begin to look artificial.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Bleaching systems from your dentist are considered to be both safe and effective. Some patients may experience slight gum irritation or tooth sensitivity in the days following application of the whitening solutions, but this will resolve itself soon after the treatment ends.
What can I expect?
Dental teeth bleaching can only lighten the existing colour of your teeth.
These treatments do not change the colour of such materials as resins, silicates or porcelains.
With our cosmetic teeth bleaching kits, you will generally have at least one vial of bleaching gel left over after your initial course of bleaching. You can use this to do touch-ups to your smile when your initial results begin to fade.
You can continue to reuse your custom trays, simply contact us to order more bleaching solution as required.
If your teeth are very sensitive, if you have periodontal disease, or if your teeth have thin enamel, we may discourage bleaching and recommend porcelain veneers instead.
